Reading the result

Use the grade as a quick reference, not an official statement of outcome.

The calculator maps a mark to commonly used WAEC-style bands: A1, B2, B3, C4, C5, C6, D7, E8, and F9. It is useful for classroom exercises, mock-examination review, and explaining how a score may relate to a grade band.

Official grading can depend on the examination, subject, session, and rules issued by the responsible body. A school should not publish this calculator's result as an official WAEC result or use it to override an authorised result sheet.

When analysing a class, keep the raw score as well as the grade. Raw scores make moderation, correction, averages, and later analysis possible; a grade alone hides how close a learner was to the next boundary.

Worked exampleA score of 68 maps to B3 in this reference table. A score of 74 maps to B2, while 75 maps to A1.
Teacher reviewCheck that the assessment was marked correctly and that the score is out of 100 before interpreting the band.
Official confirmationUse examination-body publications and the authorised result for decisions about admission or certification.

Questions

WAEC grade calculator FAQ

Is this an official WAEC calculator?

No. It is an independent classroom reference tool from JENECONK and is not operated or endorsed by WAEC.

Does a credit mean the same thing for every admission?

No. Institutions and programmes set their own subject and grade requirements. Check the current requirement for the exact course or application.

Can I use it for a mock examination?

Yes, as a consistent school reference, provided the school explains that the resulting band is provisional and not an official external-examination result.
