A lesson period is not all presentation time. A practical plan allows for entry or settling, retrieval of prior knowledge, explanation or modelling, learner activity, checking for understanding, feedback, and a clear close.
Use the calculator to divide the available minutes, then adjust the result for learner age, topic complexity, class size, resources, and transitions. A science practical, language speaking task, or group investigation may need a different balance from a short revision lesson.
If the plan consistently exceeds the period, reduce the objective or move part of the work to a later lesson. Rushing several objectives usually produces less evidence of learning than completing one well.

Should every lesson use the same time split?
No. The objective and learning activity should determine the balance. The calculator is a planning prompt, not a compulsory timetable.
How much time should evaluation take?
Enough to collect useful evidence from the intended learners. A single volunteer answer is rarely sufficient evidence for the whole class.
What if the period is interrupted?
Record where learning stopped, check understanding at the next meeting, and adapt the next plan instead of pretending every stage was completed.
