A useful AI lesson plan starts with the learning goal, not the tool. Follow a repeatable workflow that works across elementary, primary, middle, secondary, and high school settings.

A seven-step AI lesson-planning workflow

1. Fix the learning outcome

State what learners should know, explain, create, or demonstrate by the end of the lesson. Use the curriculum or standards language your school already follows.

2. Add classroom reality

Include age or year level, lesson duration, prior knowledge, available materials, class size, language needs, and any accessibility requirements.

3. Request a lesson sequence

Ask for an opening check, explicit teaching, guided practice, independent practice, assessment, and closure. Change the sequence when your pedagogy requires it.

4. Build in differentiation

Request scaffolds, extension work, vocabulary support, and alternative ways for learners to show understanding without lowering the core objective.

6. Verify and adapt

Check facts, examples, calculations, reading level, cultural context, safeguarding concerns, and whether the pace is realistic for your class.
